Premier John Horgan has called a byelection at the end of April and BC Liberal Leader, Kevin Falcon says he is surely running.
Falcon says he plans to run in the riding of his predecessor, as he seeks his seat in the Legislature.
In a statement released Saturday, Falcon pointed out what he believes to be failures in the current NDP government, adding his greatest concern are the rising cost of living.
“The cost of living for regular British Columbians continues to rise – gas prices are the highest in North America, and housing costs are the highest they have been in our province’s history.”
Not yet a MLA, he says he will run for the Vancouver-Quilchena seat that will be vacated by former party leader Andrew Wilkinson.

In the meantime, Shirley Bond will continue as leader of the opposition in the house. Falcon previously served as Finance Minister and Deputy Premier under former premier Christy Clark’s BC Liberal government. He served as MLA in Surrey from 2001 to 2013.
He was the perceived frontrunner throughout the leadership campaign and one political expert believes Falcon was the governing BC NDP’s “secret favourite choice.”
Falcon, 59, had left politics a decade ago to spend more time with his family and work at Anthem Capital, a private investment firm.
“Ten years ago I left politics for my young girls. I’m returning to politics, not just for them, but for their entire generation,” Falcon said in a statement.
The election is set for Saturday, April 30.
