Vancouver police say a “fugitive from Surrey” who was involved in a serious three-car crash while reportedly trying to escape police Tuesday has been arrested.
Police say the 29-year-old man, who has 10 Canada-wide warrants out for his arrest, tried to get away from police who were patrolling near Main Street and Terminal Avenue. While fleeing, police say the suspect caused a multi-vehicle crash in the intersection of Quebec Street and East 2nd Avenue.
The VPD says the driver reportedly ran from the scene and was arrested with the help of a K9.

Over 15 police and emergency crews blocked the scene at Quebec and East 2nd around 8 p.m., where the suspect’s vehicle had eventually crashed into a self storage building on the southeast corner. The crash left two other vehicles spun out in the middle of the intersection.
Police say the drivers of those other vehicles were taken to the hospital. A 34-year-old man and 30-year-old woman “suffered head and suspected internal injuries,” while another woman, 20, suffered less serious injuries.
