Emergency alert in Halifax lifts after shots fired

An emergency alert issued in the Halifax Regional Municipality has been lifted.
People in the area received the alert just before 8:15 p.m. ADT Friday after a pair of shootings about 20 kilometres east of downtown Halifax in the communities of East Preston and North Preston.
Police report taking one suspect into custody early on and another suspect was apprehended.
There was no longer a threat to the public and people in the area so police say people are no longer required to lock their doors and shelter in place.
Police are reporting no injuries in the incident.
