Accomplished Vancouver production designer dies at 39

Colleagues and friends are taking to social media to mourn an award-winning talent in Vancouver’s theatre community.
Drew Facey, is remembered as a “beloved set and production designer,” who worked with many productions across the city such as the Arts Club Theatre and Bard on the Beach.
In a Facebook post by the Arts Club Theatre Company, Facey is described to have been “a great friend and artistic collaborator to so many of us at the Arts Club and his work was always steeped in beauty.”
Arts Club artistic director, Ashlie Corcoran remembered him on Facebook calling him a “genius artist” and her “main creative partner.”
Most recently, Facey worked on The Sound of Music, Matchmaker, Onegin, and Bard on the Beach’s Merchant of Venice.



Facey’s cause of death has not yet been released; he is survived by his husband Kelly Murphy.
