RCMP asking public for help finding Sunshine Coast arson suspect

Mounties in Gibsons are asking the public for help to identify an arson suspect.

On May 23 at 1:30 a.m. Sunshine Coast RCMP and Gibsons Fire Department were called to a 2019 Volkswagen Atlas on fire, near Seamount Way and Industrial Way.

“Video surveillance in the area captured someone riding up to the vehicle on what appears to be an electric scooter.  The suspect then lights an accelerant and throws it into the SUV,” says RCMP in a statement.

Police add the suspect may have suffered burns to their face and/or hands.
