Port Moody police are warning the public after a rash of break-ins.
From May 1 to June 8, police responded to 12 break-ins, which is three times as many as they saw in the same period last year.
“Many of the break-ins have occurred in parkade storage lockers, where thieves have made off with expensive items. However, there have been several break & enters to residences, some of which have been occupied,” police said in a statement.
Heads up #portmoody: we’ve seen a spike in break-ins – including some occupied residences. Please remember to secure your doors & windows especially as the weather gets better. Full release here: https://t.co/Of25mkYl6E

“One incident of note occurred in the early hours of June 1 when a homeowner was awoken by an intruder who entered their Klahanie home through an open window. The intruder was startled by the homeowner and quickly departed the residence,” police said in a statement.
No one was hurt and nothing was stolen.
“Incidents like these are concerning and we are encouraging the public to continue reporting suspicious activity to police immediately” said Const. Sam Zacharias.
