BC Children’s Hospital burn care suite gets funding boost

The burn care suite at BC Children’s Hospital is getting an upgrade, thanks to a boost of funding.
The BC Professional Fire Fighters Burn Fund is giving $1 million to the hospital to support specialized care for kids with burn injuries.
The official announcement will be made on Tuesday, when a new name of the upgraded and improved suite will be revealed.
The BC Children’s Hospital Plastic Surgery section provides diagnostic and treatment services for children and babies for a wide range of issues, including burns and scar management.

The hospital says this funding boost will help it meet patient needs, “creating a purposeful environment that promotes healing and recovery.”
Funded entirely through community support, the Burn Fund sees more than 4,000 professional fire fighters put on fundraising campaigns in the province give back in hopes of helping patients make full recoveries.
Among their biggest fundraising events of the year, the Bright Nights in Stanley Park, which made its return following a pandemic hiatus this year.
