Nanaimo RCMP arrest man in connection to apparent homicide

Mounties in Nanaimo have a man in custody in connection to an apparent homicide that took place Monday.

Police say a ‘fatal altercation’ happened inside a Nanaimo home on the city’s south end at around 10 p.m.

When RCMP responded to a report of a “disturbance,” officers who attended the scene found the victim who was already dead.

“A short time later a suspect male was taken into custody without incident,” a release from the RCMP reads.

“The suspect was initially arrested for murder however at this time, no charges have formally been laid.”

No names have been released.

Mounties say there is no further risk to the public.
