Mounties in Chilliwack are asking the public to report suspicious acts after a rash of catalytic converter thefts.
RCMP say there have been several cases of the thefts in two notable recreation areas recently.
“Over the past few weeks, we have seen a series of catalytic converters stolen from vehicles parked in the Lindeman Lake and Chilliwack Lake recreation areas,” said Sgt. Krista Vrolyk, a media spokesperson with Chilliwack RCMP.
“Thieves are targeting unoccupied vehicles at these locations. The thefts are occurring both during the day and overnight. Chilliwack RCMP are asking the public to be aware and to report any suspicious activity – particularly in and around Chilliwack Lake and Lindeman Lake recreation areas.”
RCMP are telling people to park their cars indoors when possible, and install products such as cages or alarms to deter catalytic converter theft.
Currently the thefts are under investigation by the Chilliwack RCMP Property Crime section.
