A brand of mushrooms sold in B.C. is being recalled due to possible listeria contamination.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) says all TWA Fungi brand King Oyster Mushrooms sold up to, and including, July 1 are part of the recall.
“The recalled product has been sold in British Columbia and may have been distributed in other provinces and territories,” says a CFIA statement.
The CFIA says that any potential items should not be eaten, sold, or used.
“Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.”
“Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk,” they add.
The CFIA says that severe cases of listeria illness can lead to death, but say that there has been no reported illnesses associated with this product.
