Truck hits Highway 1 overpass in Langley

There were heavy delays on Highway 1 eastbound in Langley Monday afternoon, after an oversize truck hit the Glover Road overpass.

Several callers to CityNews reported the crash. DriveBC reported a “vehicle incident” in the area, blocking the right lane, warning drivers to expect “major delays.”

At about 3:30 p.m. the agency said the incident had been cleared.

The clearance on the Glover Road overpass is 4.4 metres. It’s unclear what kind of truck struck it Monday afternoon.

On Tuesday, a truck towing an excavator hit the 192 Street overpass above Highway 1 in Surrey. Several other vehicles were also involved, including a car that was heavily damaged. Two people were taken to the hospital.

It’s unclear what led up to this latest crash in Langley. This makes at least four collisions in the region involving large vehicles and highway overpasses since early June.
