A five-year-old girl has been seriously hurt after she was hit by a car in Kitsilano Wednesday.
Vancouver police say the child was standing on the sidewalk with her father and siblings near Cornwall Avenue and Arbutus Street around 11 a.m. when two vehicles collided in the intersection.
The crash forced the vehicles onto the sidewalk, where the girl was hit.

The VPD says the girl suffered critical injuries. No other life-threatening injuries were reported.
“What we do know is that there’s a child who’s been seriously hurt as a result of a collision. That child’s receiving medical attention and we’re working to understand all of the circumstances that happened,” Vancouver Police Sgt. Steve Addison told CityNews earlier Wednesday.
“Obviously, it’s a busy area, a lot of people travelling through there right now. Our investigation will include the usual canvass for witnesses, speaking to people who are involved in the collision to try to better understand what happened.”
Police say both drivers and a number of witnesses stayed at the scene.
Road closures are in place, with no timeline for reopening as investigators look into what happened.
