Murder charges laid in killing of Abbotsford woman

A 48-year-old Abbotsford man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of the mother of his children.

Abbotsford Police were called to a home near Eastview Street and Meadowlands Avenue in the Babich neighbourhood Thursday, where they found the 45-year-old woman with life-threatening injuries.

She later died at the scene and the suspect was taken into custody.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) says Inderjit Sandhu has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Kamaljit Sandhu.

Their two children, aged 16 and 21, are now with family.

“This was traumatic to all the family and neighbours,” said Sgt. David Lee of Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT). “Support services and resources are being made available to all those who need it.”

IHIT says that they are still examining the scene and that the investigation is ongoing.
