Metro Vancouver gas prices fall below $1.80/litre at some stations

The slide at the pump continues around Metro Vancouver. Gas prices were $1.78 per litre for regular at some stations Monday morning.

Prices in the Vancouver area have fallen by more than six cents in the past week, according to GasBuddy. Still, we’re about 10 cents higher than this time last year.

The national average gas price fell an average of more than seven cents over the past week.

“Gas prices continue to decline across much of Canada as oil prices have also moved lower, providing gas bars additional room to pass along the lower prices,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.

De Haan says the drop in prices should continue into the next month.

“Last week saw oil fall under $90 per barrel for the first time since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on continued worry over demand amidst an economic slowdown. While I’m upbeat the drop can continue for another couple weeks, we’re starting to see some activity in the tropics, which may increase risk of potential disruption.”
