Mounties in Maple Ridge say a man is dead after a brazen daytime shooting.
It happened at around 11:45 a.m. near 119 Avenue and 216 Street when Ridge Meadows RCMP responded to reports of a shooting.
Police say they found a 33-year-old man with gunshot wounds, and while they tried to stabilize him, he was pronounced dead.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called in to help with the investigation.
The Ridge Meadows RCMP Serious Crime Unit (SCU) and Investigational Support Team (IST) were also currently on scene.
As a result of the situation, 216 Street between Lougheed Highway and Dewdney Trunk Road had been closed by RCMP.
Police are asking people to stay clear of the area and to plan an alternate route while they deal with the situation.
They add it’s unknown if the shooting is related to the Lower Mainland Gang Conflict.
