Cultus Lake drowning claims Calgary man’s life

A man has drowned in Cultus Lake.

Police and paramedics were called to the lake near Entrance Bay Saturday night, after witnesses reported that a 33-year-old man had gone in with friends and went under.

“Tragically, the man was unable to swim and became submerged in deep water where he drowned,” said Sgt. Krista Vrolyk with the Chilliwack RCMP. “Our thoughts and condolences go out to this man’s family and friends.”

The body of the victim, who RCMP say was from Calgary, was later recovered.

The drowning is still under investigation by Chilliwack RCMP and the BC Coroners Service.
