There has been a string of unproved attacks in Vancouver — one of them is a senior who was allegedly hit hard after her late-night shift at the Orpheum. The Vancouver Police Department is also looking into three more attacks in the Fairview area.

Friends are raising money for a beloved usher who was the victim of a random assault in Downtown Vancouver.

Serji had just finished her shift at the Orpheum and had just stepped outside when it happened.

“It sounds like the police might have been chasing someone and that person basically pushed my friend down on the ground,” said Sandra McRae, who started the online fundraiser to help Serji.

According to the GoFundMe page, both of Serji’s arms are broken.

“They’re saying that she’s probably going to need surgery on at least one, possibly both, of the arms,” McRae said.

“Aside from the cuts and bruises, [there’s] emotional trauma, she’s fearful. She’s a senior. This is a person who’s been working for the civic theatres for at lesat 30 years, possibly more. This is her life and her livelihood. It’s just so, so sad.”

The GoFundMe has raised over $7,000.

“Anyone who has been to the Orpheum, Queen Elizabeth Theatre or Playhouse in Vancouver will recognize her,” Sandra wrote on the fundraiser page.

“I created this for her in the hopes that our theatre community and the larger Vancouver community will help. Let’s show Serji some love and care in this awful time, let’s show her that love wins.”
