The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is asking for witnesses to come forward after a stabbing left a man dead Thursday.
RCMP say officers were called at about 10 p.m. to the area of 184 Street and Fraser Highway, where they found the 45-year-old victim with serious injuries.
IHIT says allegedly the victim and a female got into an argument on a bus, and when the victim left the bus, he was confronted by a group of youths and stabbed. He later died in the hospital.
“Initial indications are that there was a confrontation involving the victim and several other parties prior to the stabbing. Work is being done to identify all parties who may have been involved or who may have witnessed this incident,” reads a statement from the Surrey RCMP.
Police say a passerby stopped and contacted police.
“We are thankful that a motorist, who witnessed the incident, stopped and called 911. This resulted in a quick response by police and emergency health services, unfortunately, the victim later succumbed to his injuries at [the] hospital,” says IHIT Det. Sukhi Dhesi.
