Mounties are increasing patrols at Cultus Lake after two disturbing incidents were reported this week.
The Chilliwack RCMP says on Monday around 11 p.m., a man was reportedly seen exposing himself and committing “an indecent act” in the area of First Avenue and Hemlock Street.
The next day, investigators say they received reports of a “suspicious occurrence” involving two children around 9 p.m.
They had been playing at Cultus Lake Elementary when they say a man approached them and asked for directions. The RCMP says the suspect “proceeded to touch his groin region through his pants,” after which point the children ran away to get help.
Despite searching the area, Mounties say they were unable to find the suspect.
“It is important for the public to be aware of these incidents and to report indecent activity to police,” said Sgt. Krista Vrolyk with the Chilliwack RCMP.
“This behaviour is disturbing and the fact that this individual interacted with children in one of the incidents is particularly concerning.”
The suspect is described as a man between 20 to 25 years old, with dark, shoulder-length hair, a thin build, and who is around 5’9″ to 6’0″ tall.
