A portion of a major commuter route in Vancouver has been shut down by a watermain break.
The issue is affecting West 70th Avenue, with closures in place past Granville.
That means access to SW Marine Drive may be a problem, especially for those headed to the UBC area.

The City of Vancouver tells CityNews the break happened after midnight Thursday in the area of West 70th and Cornish.
While crews have been working to resolve the matter for hours, there’s currently no timeline for when the work will wrap up.
Road closures are in place along West 70th from Granville to Adera, as well as Cornish from West 75th to West 68th. Additional traffic disruptions are expected in the coming days, with road repairs also needed.
“The city is putting together a traffic management plan,” the city writes in an email to CityNews.
It says the break was on a 450 millimetre cast iron watermain that was installed in 1961. It’s unclear what caused it to break.
You can take 57th Avenue as an alternate route.
