One dead after serious crash in Abbotsford involving impaired driver

A person has died after a crash in Sumas Prairie Thursday evening.
Abbotsford Police Department says just before 6:30 p.m., officers responded to a serious collision at the intersection of Wells Line Road and McDermott Road.
Emergency services found a two-vehicle collision when they arrived, police say. One of the vehicles had a family of three in the car, with the other vehicle having a lone occupant.

Police say the driver of the family car died at the scene, while the two other occupants were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The 50-year-old driver of the second car did remain on scene, AbbyPD says, and was then taken to a local hospital. The driver remains in police custody for an impaired driving investigation.
Police are asking for any witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage who may have been driving near the collision location around that time to come forward and call the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225.
