Advance voting for Vancouver’s civic election opens Saturday

Vancouverites trying to get ahead of the long voting lines now have their chance as Saturday marks the first day of advance voting.

Across the city, over 20 locations are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

To vote, you’ll need to bring two pieces of identification. Both pieces must show you name, and at least one piece must have a home address, and at least one must have your signature.

Another option is bringing one piece of identification and making a solemn declaration with an election official.

For those who many need help marking a ballot or who communicate in other languages, the city notes that instructions are available in multiple languages.

Another option is bringing someone with you to help, they can take an oath of secrecy with an official and lend a hand.

The city’s civic election takes place on Oct. 15.
