Police in Richmond are asking for the public’s help after an 11-year-old was hurt in a hit-and-run Wednesday.
Just before 9 a.m., Richmond RCMP officers responded to a call in the Thompson area of No. 1 Road and Tucker Avenue reporting a boy had been hit by a vehicle.
According to police, the boy was pushing his bike across the road at the marked pedestrian crosswalk when he was struck by a grey minivan.
Police say the minivan then drove away, sideswiping another vehicle before “fleeing the scene.”

The boy was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He has since been released from hospital.
Police say the driver of the vehicle was described as a woman, possibly in her 50s, with a bob-style haircut. The grey minivan is believed to have “light” damage, Mounties say.
“Richmond RCMP is actively investigating this disturbing collision and is very interested in locating the driver of this vehicle,” Cpl. Dennis Hwang said. “We would greatly appreciate the public’s assistance in this matter.”
Police are asking for anyone who has any information on this incident or potential dashcam footage, to contact the Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212 and quote file #2022-27171.
