Vancouver police say shots were fired and bear spray was used on the Downtown Eastside Tuesday morning.
VPD say it happened just before 11 a.m. when they received 911 calls reporting a man “fired a gun, and then ran out of the area,” adding witnesses reported bear spray being used around the same time.

Police say officers responded to the reports and “located evidence” that shots were fired but haven’t found any victims.
“This is a heavily populated area and we are concerned someone may have been hit. We encourage anyone who may have been injured to seek medical help, and to report the incident to police,” said Cst. Jason Doucette.
Officers are continuing to “search the area for potential suspects and victims.”
Police are asking anyone with information about this to contact the VPD at 604-717-3321 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
