Vancouver teens hospitalized after ‘violent’ fight over vape

By Lesia Pogorelo and Hana Mae Nassar

Two teens have been taken to the hospital after what Vancouver police say was a “violent encounter” that started over claims of a stolen vape pen.

The VPD says several witnesses reported two people fighting near a bus stop at Dunbar and West 41st Avenue Thursday around 8:30 p.m.

Investigators report one teen accused the other of stealing the smoking device.

When officers arrived, they found a 17-year-old who had been stabbed. The teen was “bleeding profusely” and was taken to the hospital where they required surgery.

Later that day, police say an 18-year-old suspect was found in East Vancouver, adding that person was also hurt. They were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are asking anyone who saw what happened or who has information related to this investigation to contact the VPD at 604-717-2541.
