Shots fired into Newton residence: Surrey RCMP

Police in Surrey are investigating after gunshots were fired into a Newton home, and are hoping the public can help them find a suspect vehicle they think is involved.

The Surrey RCMP says it responded to reports on Thursday morning of bullet holes in a fence at a residence along 72 Avenue near 140 Street in the city’s Newton neighbourhood.

Further investigation by police found the shooting happened on Wednesday morning. Police say CCTV footage from the area shows a four-door sedan as a suspected vehicle involved.

In a media release, Cst. Sarbjit K. Sangha says police did not receive any reports of the shooting when it happened.

“This is very concerning as someone could have been seriously injured and in need of medical attention,” he said.

“It is very important if you hear shots fired or see something suspicious that you immediately report it to police.”

Earlier on Friday, Surrey RCMP appealed for surveillance video to help in their investigation into another incident of shots fired at a home in South Surrey. Police say the shooting happened early Wednesday morning near 27A Avenue and 127 Street. No injuries were reported.

In both cases, police are urging people to contact either Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or call Crime Stoppers.
