Vancouver Canucks announce home jersey sponsor

The home jerseys for the Vancouver Canucks will look slightly different this season, as the club announces a sponsor for the year.

TD Bank will have its logo emblazoned on the Canucks’ jerseys on the upper right side of the chest for all 41 home games this season.

In a media release, President of Canucks Sports & Entertainment, Michael Doyle, says the sponsorship “solidifies” a relationship between the team and the bank.

“When considering our jersey partner, it was important to us that we team up with an organization that shares our values and is invested in the community. This marks an exciting time in the sponsorship between Canucks Sports & Entertainment and TD,” he said.

The 2022-23 NHL season is the first in which teams can have a single corporate sponsor on jerseys for the year.

In 2020, the NHL allowed sponsors to appear on players’ helmets as a means to recoup money lost from the pandemic.

It’s estimated the helmet ads brought in an extra $5 million to $10 million in revenue per year for teams. NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has previously stated the league made more than $100 million over two years from helmet sponsorships.

TD Bank has been working with the Canucks since 2018 as a sponsor for team events, initiatives, and theme nights.

The Vancouver Canucks will play their first game at Rogers Arena on Saturday night when they host the Buffalo Sabres.
