The civilian passengers were unharmed, while the officer suffered “serious lacerations to their head” but is expected to fully recover, according to police.
The officer’s vehicle was destroyed in the incident.
Sgt. Mark McLean says the incident was scary for everyone involved.
“While our officer was unlucky to have been caught up in a rockslide, we are grateful and fortunate that their injuries weren’t more severe,” he said.
Police add Cypress Bowl Road was closed for several hours while the debris from the slide was cleared. It has since reopened.
