According to founder of Blanket BC, Gregory Ould, the group hopes to collect 10,000 blankets to help as many people as possible across the province.

“Our goal every year is to try to collect around 10,000 blankets — that represents the amount of homeless that we have. However, that number has doubled over the last few years so there are a lot more people in need,” Ould said.

“Once we collect everything, we start sending them out to shelter programs all across the entire Lower Mainland and province. We are hoping to reach as far away as Hope and Squamish and Sunshine Coast and even Vancouver Island if we can.”

He adds the vehicle Blanket BC uses to pick up donations  is out of commission due to faulty transmission. In addition to clothes and blankets, the organization is appealing to the public for volunteer mechanics, or donations.
