Homicide team in Maple Ridge after body found in burned car

The homicide team has been called in after a body was found in a burned-out vehicle in Maple Ridge Thursday.
Mounties say officers received calls about a car on fire along 256 Street near the Fraser Regional Correctional Centre, around 11:15 p.m.

According to police, after fire crews put out the flames, officers found a body inside.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called in to work with the RCMP, and Mounties say the investigation is still in its early stages.
“It is unknown at this time if this is related to the Lower Mainland gang conflict,” RCMP said in a news release.

Mounties are also asking for dash cam footage between 10 p.m. to midnight on Nov. 24.
