Woman assaulted in New Westminster: police

The New Westminster Police Department (NWPD) says it is looking for witnesses after a woman was assaulted Sunday morning.

NWPD says the woman was taking a flight of stairs leading from Front Street to the Front Street parkade around 8:15 a.m. when she was assaulted by two people.

Sgt. Justine Thom says it’s believed the suspects and victim knew each other.

“Given the time of day and the proximity to busy Front Street traffic, we believe there are people who may have seen this assault and have not yet spoken to officers,” she said.

Police are canvassing the area and are hoping any witnesses who saw the assault will come forward.
