Snow clearing crews in Metro Vancouver are getting ready for another frosty day, with snow forecasted to begin Friday afternoon.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the majority of Metro Vancouver, including the City of Vancouver, North and West Vancouver, Surrey, Burnaby, Langley, Richmond, Delta, and New Westminster.
It says locals can expect to see around 2 to 5 cm or more, but at the moment, it’s uncertain how much snow will actually stick on the ground.

Although Tuesday’s snowfall caused massive delays and problems, Environment Canada says there will be “significantly less snow” this time.
It adds drivers can expect slippery conditions and near-freezing temperatures, and there is also a risk of freezing rain.
Mainroad Contracting, which is responsible for all the major highways from Aldergrove to 1st Avenue in Vancouver, says it is getting ready to take care of the ice on bridges.

According to the group, the “snow and ice program” has been sent out for the Port Mann Bridge and Alex Fraser Bridge, where intermittent lane closures will happen depending on the weather.
The contractor is also reminding “the travelling public to prepare for changing winter road conditions…Ensure your vehicle is prepared with snow tires, a full tank of gas or a full charge, and an emergency kit.”

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure says it is also getting ready for the snow, and says drivers should plan ahead for the road conditions.
“Contractors will be out in full force treating provincial roads with brine in advance of any precipitation and will be ready to manage any accumulations of snow,” the ministry said in a news release.
