Two suspects in Delta U-haul kidnap incident charged

Delta Police have charged two suspects accused of holding two women against their will in a U-Haul on Wednesday, a statement released by the department said.
The police said that 38-year-old Dustin Engels has been charged with two counts of forcible confinement, assault, using an imitation firearm, uttering threats and one count of robbery.
His accomplice, 28-year-old Morgan Thompson, was charged with one count of robbery.

Police officers responded to a report on Wednesday of a “distraught woman” who was “found assaulted, robbed, and forcibly confined to a U-Haul van,” the release stated.
The victim managed to escape from the vehicle near Hwy 17 and Ladner Trunk Road. Officers later learned that another woman was also forcibly confined in the van.

The Delta Police also stated that all the individuals involved in the incident are known to each other, and this was the result of a “conflict between all parties.”
They assured everyone that it was not a random incident and did not place the general public in any harm.
