Charges are being recommended after a snowy, failed attempt by a Christmas grinch to get away from police in Abbotsford this week.
Abbotsford Police Department investigators say they got a call Tuesday evening from someone who said they saw a man cutting the locks on a U-Haul truck in the area of Marshall Road and Emerson Street. Officers tracked down the vehicle struggling to drive through all the snow and ice.

Police say they tried to stop the driver who eventually ended up in a snowbank. The driver, 36-year-old Russell Mayhew, was arrested at the scene.
“[He’s] facing numerous charges, including flight from police, wilfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer, breach of undertaking, and driving while disqualified,” said Const. Artur Stele.
“As a result of the alert citizens’ report and the efforts of Abby PD patrol officers, police located several amazon packages that were not in the offender’s name and were suspected of having been recently stolen from residents’ porches.”

One of the responding officers tells CityNews after the arrest was wrapped up, a neighbour opened their window and blasted ‘Bad Boys,’ the theme song from the show Cops.
