TransLink says free rides across Metro Vancouver for all services will be available on Dec. 31 from 5:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. on Jan. 1.
During these hours, fare gates at SkyTrain stations will remain open, and customers won’t be required to tap their Compass cards or other payment methods.
Translink advises customers who begin trips before 5:00 p.m. to tap out as normal to ensure they’re charged the correct fare.
On New Year’s eve, the SkyTrain, buses, and the SeaBus will be operating on a Saturday schedule.

Night buses, meanwhile, will run throughout the night on key routes in Vancouver, Richmond, North Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam, New Westminster, and Surrey.
According to Translink, additional SkyTrain staff, Transit Police, and Transit Security officers will be on site to direct and assist customers.
