Man arrested after suspected arson in Sidney

A man in his thirties from Victoria has been arrested in connection with a break-and-enter and suspected arson in Sidney on Tuesday morning.
North Saanich/Sidney RCMP says officers were called early Tuesday morning for reports of a break-in at a construction site on Third Street.
When officers arrived, they found the building was on fire.
Sidney Fire Rescue was called to the scene, and the fire was quickly extinguished.

Mounties arrested a man at the scene.
Thanks to the swift response of both Police and Firefighters, this event was quickly resolved,” Cpl. Andres Sanchez of the Sidney/North Saanich RCMP said. “We are thankful that the building was not occupied at the time and that our first responders were able to manage this event safely and professionally.

Police believe that this is an isolated incident and there are no outstanding suspects or further danger posed to the public.
