For those planning an out-of-town New Year’s Eve celebration, Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the Coquihalla Highway (Highway 5) on Saturday.
Snowfall on the highway from Hope to Merritt is forecast to be “at times heavy,” according to Environment Canada.
Driving conditions are bound to prove difficult if you’re heading up there due to reduced visibility, and with snow accumulations expected to come up to 10 cm.

This is all due to a low pressure center approaching the South Coast. Snow is expected to ease Saturday afternoon.
Meanwhile, Environment Canada says driving conditions can quickly deteriorate, and advises people to be prepared and use winter tires.
