One person seriously hurt after New Westminster station stabbing

One person was sent to the hospital with serious injuries after a stabbing within the New Westminster Skytrain station’s shops Saturday afternoon.
In a statement to CityNews, Transit police say the victim is in stable condition and no one else was hurt during the incident.
The New Westminster station itself remained open but the bus loop was closed for a period of time.
“Transit police and New West Police responded to a stabbing that occurred at The Shops located within New West Station. The station itself was never closed, but the bus loop was closed for a period of time while officers investigated the scene.”

In an email, TransLink told CityNews the bus loop closed at around 1:30 in the afternoon. Passengers were directed by staff to nearby streets where buses temporarily stopped during the closure.
There are no additional details available on whether a suspect has been apprehended. CityNews has reached out to the New Westminster Police Department.
