Those who drive on B.C.’s mountain highways are surely used to seeing moose while on the roads, but one couple had a more unique encounter.
Angie Hillmer says she and her husband were driving on Princeton Summerland Road on Tuesday morning when they spotted one of the large animals caught in a wire fence.
She pulled out her phone to record the rare encounter while her husband went to free it.
In the video posted on Facebook, her husband is seen carefully approaching the trapped moose, slowly working to untangle the animal’s leg from the wire.

Hillmer is heard asking her husband if there are any tools in their car that could help him.
“This is why you need to have these kind of equipment, I guess,” she said in the video.
After about a minute of working with the fence, the moose finally kicked itself free, galloping away into the forest.
“I know she’s thankful,” said Hillmer upon the moose’s release.
