Burnaby crash leaves 33-year-old motorcyclist dead: RCMP

A 33-year-old man died in a Burnaby motorcycle crash Wednesday morning, according to police.

The Burnaby RCMP says the collision happened near Laurel Street and Douglas Road around 6:10 a.m. between a motorcycle and a hatchback that were driving in opposite directions.

The motorcyclist died on the scene, police add.

Mounties say “impairment” doesn’t seem to be a factor, but the RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation team is looking into the case.

“The collision is still under investigation,” Cpl. Laura Hirst said. “If you have dash-cam footage in the area of Laurel Street and Douglas Road between 5:50 a.m. and 6:30 a.m., our investigators would like to speak with you.”

Police ask anyone with information to call the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 and quote file number 2023-4497.
