Man arrested after senior allegedly assaulted in Chinatown: Vancouver police

Vancouver police say a man has been arrested after a senior was allegedly assaulted in Chinatown on Wednesday.

According to the Vancouver Police Department (VPD), the incident happened near Main Street and Keefer Street at around 5:30 a.m.

Police say the 74-year-old woman was standing at a bus stop when a stranger “walked up behind her and pushed her to the ground.”

Although she was hurt and taken to the hospital, the VPD says her injuries are non-life-threatening.

“Thanks to an astute bystander who called 911 immediately after witnessing the assault, VPD officers were able to locate the suspect and make a quick arrest,” Const. Tania Visintin said in a statement.

Police say 32-year-old Alan Kipson has been charged with assault causing bodily harm.
