Downtown Eastside fire victim identified: Vancouver police

Police in Vancouver have released a photo of a suspect in relation to a suspicious fire on the Downtown Eastside that left one man dead in January.

According to the Vancouver Police Department, after over a month of investigating the details of the fire and potential murder, police say they have also identified the victim.

Police say the Vancouver Fire Rescue Services was also called to a suspicious outdoor fire near Powell Street and Raymur Avenue on Jan. 3.

Now over a month later, police say 34-year-old Jeff Jeanty has been identified as the victim of the blaze.

Police say a woman in her 20s is a suspect in the death and police are asking anyone with information to call the VPD’s Homicide Unit at 604-717-2500.
