Pedestrian struck by vehicle: Vancouver police

Police in Vancouver say a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle Tuesday morning.

In a tweet, the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says Cambie Street southbound at 41 Avenue has been closed and police are advising drivers not to go to that area.

A spokesperson with the VPD tells CityNews in an email that police believe a senior woman has been seriously injured.

“We believe a woman in her 80s was crossing the road when she was struck by a vehicle that was turning south,” the email reads.

“She has very serious injuries that could be life-threatening because of her age.”

Police add that investigators are on the scene, and will provide more information when they know more.
