Air Canada is already warning flights could be impacted at the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) this weekend because of the snow.
On its website, the airline says that with snow in the forecast, there is a possibility for flights being cancelled or postponed.
In a release from YVR, the airport says it is getting ready for the snow and will be “monitoring weather closely.”
“Our equipment and crews are ready. Our de-icing facility is fully operational. Airlines have been asked to ensure full towing capacity during the snow event so that empty aircraft are not stuck at gates preventing other planes from being able to de-plane passengers,” YVR says.
It is a bright, beautiful day but there is a fair bit of snow in the forecast. Our equipment and crews are at the ready and we are working with our many airline partners to get passengers on their way as quickly and safely as possible. Read more:https://t.co/LeO1Wm9Un7

However, a few people on social media are calling for better communication, following the significant delays and problems that plagued passengers in December.
“Let’s hope we don’t have a redo from December. YVR, please make sure airlines cancel flights BEFORE people risk travelling to get to the airport – not MINUTES before,” one Twitter user commented.

One person tweeted that their flight has already been cancelled, citing the snow.
“How bad is the Storm looking for Vancouver tomorrow? Well, I’m not coming home tomorrow anymore from San Francisco. Air Canada just cancelled our flight… #BCStorm,” the user said.
In a following tweet, they add that they are rebooked for the following day.
Air Canada adds that it has changed its ticketing policy, to help allow people to change their bookings — something that was a problem during B.C.’s previous major snowfalls.
