Police in Vancouver say a man wanted across Canada for multiple gun-related offences was arrested Saturday night.
The Vancouver Police Department says officers were called to a building near Clark Drive and Powell Street “to investigate an assault.”
But when officers arrived, police say they discovered a man with multiple outstanding warrants was hiding in the building.
It took more than five hours, with both police negotiators and the Emergency Response Team involved before police say the suspect surrendered and was arrested.

Police say 39-year-old Aaron Scott Hastie is in jail and had two outstanding warrants for “unauthorized possession of a firearm, a warrant for possession of a firearm while prohibited, and a warrant for carrying a concealed firearm.”
Police note that the warrants stem from 2021 when a man walking with a gun on Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside was arrested.
