Fire in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside destroys suite

One suite has been destroyed after a fire broke out on Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.
The fire took place at Keefer Street and Gore Avenue Sunday morning.
Vancouver Fire Rescue Service assistant chief Jarret Gray says the fire started in the suite, and didn’t spread elsewhere in the building.
“Crews quickly knocked down the fire inside the suite,” he said.
‘The suite was completely destroyed’
Gray adds one person was taken to hospital.
“There was possible people missing inside the suite, which later on confirmed that they weren’t missing. They got out safely. We had one person with smoke inhalation,” he said.
He adds around 40 firefighters responded to this early morning fire, with none leaving injured.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
