Police in Abbotsford say a man is facing multiple charges after attempting to disarm an officer.
The Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) says officers were called to an auto parts store near South Fraser Way and Roberts Ave just before 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Police say the shop’s staff reported that a man was trying to steal merchandise, and when employee(s) approached him, the suspect allegedly pulled out a knife.
Police say as the man was leaving the store he was stopped by officers and told to “show his hands.” But police say he was “non-compliant,” and officers pulled out a taser.
A brief “struggle” with police then happened, in of which police say the suspect tried to grab an officer’s taser.
However, he was safely arrested after the arrival of more officers, and no one was hurt.
The suspect, Raul Hernandez, is facing an array of charges, including; robbery, disarming a peace officer, obstruction, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
