Pedestrian critically hurt after being hit by car in East Vancouver

A 40-year-old woman is in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle while crossing an East Vancouver street Tuesday night.

Vancouver Police Department says just after 9:30 p.m., the woman was struck near Woodland Drive and East 1st Avenue.

Cons. Tania Visintin says she was taken to hospital while the driver stayed on scene. Visintin says the driver is cooperating with the investigation.

East 1st Avenue was closed for about five hours while police investigated the incident, reopening at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Visintin confirms the VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit is investigating the incident.

Police are asking anyone with information or dash-cam footage to call the Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012.
