Bloody IKEA rug leads to ‘murder’ investigation: RCMP

Mounties in B.C. say a bloody blue IKEA rug turned into police is now part of an “investigation into the murder” of a man from Kamloops.

The rug was turned into the Barriere RCMP detachment and initially “linked to a violent act,” police say.

But now Mounties say the rug has been tied to the death of Peter Daniel Casimir.

“The murder of Mr. Casimir was targeted and that no danger to the public exists,” Staff/Sgt. Jason Smart said.

The investigation has now been passed to the Southeast District Major Crime Unit, which says Casimir’s murder was targeted and presents no danger to the public.

Investigators add Casimir has used the name Jake Maserski as an alias. They ask anyone who may have had any dealings with Casimir this year to come forward to help investigators put together a timeline of his movements and identify who he may have associated with.
