Abbotsford high school lockdown ends after report of shooter

Unfounded reports of an active shooter at W.J. Mouat Secondary School in Abbotsford prompted a lockdown of the school on Tuesday.
In a tweet, the Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) says the lockdown has ended and students will be dismissed at their normal time.

The AbbyPD says reports of an active shooter came in at 12:13 p.m. from a student at the school. It sparked heavy police presence from every on-duty police officer in Abbotsford, along with support from Mission RCMP members, and Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service.
“AbbyPD can confirm that no suspect was ever seen on the school grounds, nor were any shots fired. Further, no students or staff were harmed in this incident,” the department said in a statement.
Police the investigation into the incident will continue in partnership with the Abbotsford School District.



It wasn’t the only B.C. school that was under lockdown on Tuesday. According to BC RCMP, an elementary school in Fort St. James was also put under lockdown earlier in the morning due to unfounded reports of an active shooter.
